"The Circuit," hosted by Ben Bajarin and Jay Goldberg, provides weekly updates on the most significant developments in the semiconductor industry. And these aren’t just two commentators spouting off: Bajarin has been analyzing the tech sector since 2000 as CEO and Principal Analyst at Creative Strategies, with Cypress Semiconductor on his resume even before that. Goldberg built his reputation as a Research Analyst at Deutsche Bank and then dove into the industry with an executive role at companies including Qualcomm. Today, he runs the strategy consulting firm D2D Advisory, with a distinct focus on custom silicon and shifts in the chip value chain. That’s two decades of industry knowledge, coupled with the ability to continually link technology and businessrather than getting bogged down in the technical details.
In addition to that sector focus, I also keep an eye on a few broader podcasts. TheAll-Inpodcast, featuring a panel of seasoned Silicon Valley investors and entrepreneurs, mainly gives a sense of what the smart money is up to at any given moment—the intersection of tech, markets, and macro—though the signal-to-noise ratio can vary at times. “Invest Like the Best”and“In Good Company,” on the other hand,revolveentirely around conversation. In the former, Patrick O’Shaughnessy conducts longer, in-depth conversations with top investors, founders, and operators about how they think: their mental models, their views on capital allocation, and the lessons behind their decisions. In Good Companyis hosted by Nicolai Tangen, CEO of the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund, who brings the CEOs of the world’s largest companies to the table and quizzes them on strategy and leadership. These two shows are highly dependent on their guests: their success hinges entirely on who’s sitting at the table. But when the right name comes up, those very conversations yield the most useful insights. This week, for example, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, joins O’Shaughnessy.
